SNCF tries to provide a tranquil and comfortable travel for all its passengers. Please remember that parents remain responsible for their children.

Fares for children aged under 4 and between 4 and 12 years without a discount railcard.

Travel in France

 

Child fares for travel on TGV, Intercités:


Up to 4 years of age:

  • Your child travels free of charge but does not have their own seat.
  • With the Forfait Bambin, your child has their own seat and enjoys very cheap travel at only €9 (excluding night trains: supplement for couchette)

 

From 4 years upwards:


Children between the ages of 4 and 12 travel at half the adult fare, subject to availability.

 

TER child fares


Up to 4 years of age: Your child travels free of charge but does not have their own seat.

 


From 4 years upwards: Take advantage of the Découverte Enfant Plus offer.

 


If you are travelling with one or more children under 12, enjoy a 25% discount on all journeys in the blue period [off peak]

 


This fare is valid for up to 4 accompanying adults (the adults don't need to be family members).

 

iDTGV child fares

 

Up to 4 years of age: Your child travels free of charge but does not have their own seat. For their own seat you need to buy them an adult ticket.


To ensure our other passengers enjoy a peaceful journey, iDTGV recommends that parents travelling with young children book the iDzap.


From 4 years upwards: IDTGV does not offer a reduced fare for children.


Travel in Europe

Thalys child fares (travel between France, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands)

 

Up to 4 years of age: Your child can travel free of charge without their own seat. For their own seat you need to buy them a KID ticket


From 4 years upwards: Children between the ages of 4 and 12 travel at half the adult fare, subject to availability.

 

 

Child fares with TGV France-Italy


Up to 4 years of age: your child travels for free, on your knee.


Your child has his/her own seat when you book a child ticket

 


Between 4 and 12 years: your child can benefit from the child ticket 1, exchangeable and refundable without charge up to departure.


The child ticket 2 can be exchanged and refunded (70% of fare) up to departure.

 


Eurostar child fares (travel between France, Belgium and the UK)


Up to 4 years of age: Your child travels free of charge but does not have their own seat. For their own seat you need to buy them a child ticket (over 4 years of age).

 


From 4 years upwards: Children between the ages of 4 and 12 travel at half the adult fare, subject to availability.

 

Elipsos child fares (travel between Spain and France and Spain, Italy and Switzerland):


Up to 4 years of age: Your child can travel free of charge if they share the bed with the person travelling with them. For a separate bed for your child you need to buy a child ticket (over 4 years)

 


From 4 years upwards: Children between the ages of 4 and 12 travel at half the adult fare, subject to availability.

 


To book:

  • Click on the Train tab on the home page and select "Book a train ticket" from the dropdown menu.
  • On the next page, enter your travel criteria (points of departure and arrival, dates and times).


For a child under 4 select "Child (0 to 3 yrs)" then "separate paying seat/forfait bambin" in the discount railcard area.

 

From a customer sales agent at a station, SNCF shop or an approved travel agent in France
